One of the two people injured in a recent Metro Vancouver shooting has died.
On Feb. 8 at 11:30 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the Fraser Heights area of 16800-block of 104 Avenue. When officers arrived a male and a female were found in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to hospital, the female in serious condition and the male with life-threatening injuries.
At the time, Surrey RCMP stated initial indications are that the shooting is related to the Lower Mainland Gang Conflict.
“We understand that there is concern within our community regarding the ongoing violence,” said Cst. Sarbjit K. Sangha in a release on Feb. 9. “Surrey RCMP Gang Enforcement Team (SGET) along with Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit BC (CFSEU-BC) are working day and night to gather intelligence and target those that pose the highest risk to our community.”
The next day Surrey RCMP announced the male victim had died from their injuries and the investigation has been turned over to Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).
