Talon Tipton loves to give so much that the 11-year-old is distributing "Talon’s Easter Giving Bags." throughout the community. He and his mom will keep up the deliveries right up until Easter.

Heather Colpitts has become the neighbourhood Easter Bunny thanks to her son’s big heart and passion for cooking.

The North Delta mom has been home schooling her son Talon Tipton, a special needs 11-year-old who also happens to be immune compromised. Over time, Talon has developed a love for cooking and even has some favourite shows on the Food Network. It has resulted in making such things as banana bread, waffles and meatloaf.

“It’s ‘Heather’s House of Learning’ and we have been doing a lot of cooking and baking,” laughed Colpitts during an interview with the Optimist this week. “We are always encouraging him into something he likes to do.”

Talon also likes to give back to others.

When they created smashed chocolate Easter eggs through some molds ordered on Amazon, little did Colpitts know it would evolve into something much bigger.

“It all started with let’s make one for his sister. Then we brought one to our neighbourhood barber and he has kids too. It just kind of snowballed from there,” continued Colpitts. “With special needs, you are trying to find something on his level. This is what he want he wants to do so this is what we are doing.”

As the eggs were delivered, Talon began to receive cash donations for his kindness. The money has been spent on not only buying more chocolate, but other items too to create ‘Talon’s Easter Giving Bags.’

Colpitts even posted on the North Delta Community Corner Facebook page to find more local kids to give the bags to. Now she and Talon are delivering them throughout the area with the plan to make more right up until Easter. Twenty-five bags were delivered on Thursday alone.

“People have been so nice but we don’t want their money so we have just been buying more stuff,” she added. “Talon just loves to give so that’s what we will just keep doing.”
