13th annual Delta Triathlon set for tomorrow in Ladner

Capacity field, including 100 kids, registered for race

The 13th annual Delta Triathlon takes place tomorrow at the Ladner Leisure Centre and on streets throughout the community.

The short distance race attracts competitors between the ages of eight and 80. The children's and youth races start at 7: 30 a.m., followed by the adult race at 8: 30 a.m., with the awards presentation and event finale at noon.

To ensure the safety of race participants, some road closures are in effect, including Arthur Drive, Mountain View Boulevard and Clarence Taylor Crescent.

About 250 dedicated volunteers work together with Corporation of Delta staff to make the triathlon a reality.

As has been the case for several years, registration for the race was at capacity shortly after it opened. One hundred Kids of Steel and 350 adult racers will compete this year.
