'50s fashion in style at Night for the Museum

Fourth annual fundraiser set for McKee this Saturday

Are you familiar with the Nifty '50 era of lively music, fashion-trendy poodle skirts, bobby socks, neck scarves, the introduction of that "little black dress" and box-veiled hats, leather jackets and stovepipe pants?

Well, the Delta Museum and Archives Society is providing an opportunity to have some fun with those retro styles.

It will be hosting its fourth annual fashion show fundraiser, Night for the Museum, this Saturday evening showcasing 1950s vintage fashions as well as many current fashions generously provided by Delta merchants.

Come in a 1950s costume for an opportunity to strut your stuff on the runway with the models. Prizes will be presented for the top three costumes.

This fun, family-friendly evening is being held at McKee Seniors' Recreation Centre, 5155-47th Ave., Ladner. Doors open at 7 p.m. to allow guests attending in costume the opportunity to register for the runway walk and a chance to view and bid on the fabulous selection of silent auction items donated by local businesses and supporters. Models hit the runway at 7: 30 p.m.

The entertainment at intermission will include a PowerPoint presentation to take those in attendance back to the golden days of the '50s, accompanied by popular music from that era. Special vintage clothing will also be on display to help set the mood.

Tickets, which are $20 for adults and $5 for school age children, can be purchased in Ladner at the Delta Museum, the Delta Archives, Angela's Boutique, Buttercups Children's Boutique, Elite Repeat, Grapes 4 U, South Coast Casuals and Stillwater Sports.

In Tsawwassen they're available at Culture Craze, John Michael Menswear and X-Treme Clothing.

Funds raised from this event will support the ongoing development of the Delta Museum, located in the heart of Ladner Village at 4858 Delta St.
