Last month's annual Chesapeake Landing Charity Golf Tournament raised $1,600 for Delta Hospital.

Since 2007, Chesapeake Landing has donated the proceeds of its tournament to Delta Hospital, adding to a total of $8,000 with this year's proceeds. The money raised will go towards hospital's Greatest Needs Fund. The tournament saw 34 golfers take to the course and a total of 46 attend a dinner at the clubhouse, organized by Sally Phelps, one of Chesapeake Landing's golf committee members. Co-chairs of the 2013 tournament, Don Phelps and Dave Rudberg, were happy with the event's outcome and remarked, "We are proud of the ongoing commitment and generosity of Chesapeake residents and our sponsors to this worthy cause."

Phelps and Rudberg also wanted to express their gratitude for the support they received from Budget Foods, Riverhouse Restaurant, Tsawwassen Collision, Expedia CruiseShipCenters, Lawlor Goldsmith Shoppe, Save-On-Foods, Safeway, Ichiban Fine Cleaning, Meridian Farm Market, Stir Coffee House, Ladner Village Floral, Captain's Cove Marina (Rusty Anchor Restaurant), Sharkey's Seafood Bar and Grille, Aquilini Group (Golden Eagle Golf Club) and Cove Links Golf Course.

"I'm always so impressed with Chesapeake's enduring support of our hospital," said Jackey Zellweger, Delta Hospital Foundation's corporate and event manager. "For six years now, they've organized this amazing event with Delta Hospital Foundation as their chosen charity, and we are just so grateful."

The Chesapeake Landing Charity Golf Tournament is one of many independent fundraising initiatives that have raised thousands of dollars to enhance patient care at Delta Hospital. Anyone interested in hosting a fundraiser can contact Zellweger at 604-940-9695 or jackey.zellweger@dhfoundation.ca.
