The 16th annual Ladner Bandfest is back in Memorial Park this weekend, June 4 to 5.

This popular, free event will see 18 concert bands perform on alternating stages set up on the lawn near the Ladner Pioneer Library.

Bands this year include four based in musically-rich Delta: the host Delta Music Makers, the Delta Concert Band, Brass, Wind & Wire, and Loades of Music, plus bands from Richmond, Surrey, Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby, Langley, Fraser Valley, Surrey, and New Westminster.

The grand finale on Sunday at 4 p.m. will be performed by the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy, visiting from their base at Esquimalt.

Preceding the Naden Band, at 3:20 p.m., the Delta Music Makers will perform their signature theatre and screen music, solo instrumental features, Canadiana, and concert marches.

The public is asked to bring lawn chairs and setting in for two days of music.

Food services will be provided by TOOB, offering burgers, hotdogs, and their famous curly fries and more.

Bandfest organizers are thrilled to be back after a hiatus due to the pandemic.

“It will be three years since our last Bandfest in 2019, and we are so happy to be back,” said Bandfest committee member and Music Makers conductor Curt Janzen. “Dig out your lawn chairs, pack some snacks, and pick your spot. Memorial Park is perfect for people to bring families to enjoy the music of all these fine concert bands.”
