The Burns Bog Conservation Society is hosting its annual International Bog Day celebration this Sunday.
The free event, which goes from 10: 30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of Planet Ice Delta (10388 Nordel Court), will have a mix of entertainment, including performers, dancers, singers and bands.
"It's a wide variety," says Burns Bog Conservation Society events co-ordinator Katie Hikida.
There will be jazz, hiphop, tap and belly dancing along with folk and country singers. Bands will be performing progressive rock and covers.
Bog tours will happen every half hour from 11 a.m. to 2: 30 p.m. It costs $5 each to go on a tour.
There will be three different yoga sessions taking place at the event and 20 mats will be provided for those looking to take part.
Kids can take part in colouring and educational activities.
Situated between the Fraser River and Boundary Bay, the 10,000-acre bog a unique and fascinating environment. A bog is a special kind of wetland that stores up to 20 times more carbon dioxide than a rain forest.
