Black Bond Books in Ladner, along with local children's author Darlene Foster, will take part in Take Your Child to a Bookstore Day on Saturday, Dec. 3.
This event takes place across North America to encourage parents to take their children to a local bookstore and discover the delights of books and reading.
Do you remember the first time you entered a bookstore? The smell of the freshly printed books, the friendly staff, the bright colours of the book covers and the ability to escape into other worlds stick with us forever.
"Bookstores hold a place in the hearts and times of our community. They are places to discover an author, a story, a life. Nothing affords the conversation and interaction among books and book lovers that a bookstore does," said Jenny Milchman, founder of Take Your Child to a Bookstore Day.
At Black Bond Books in Trenant Park Square, there will be fun activities, a colouring contest, story reading time, a draw for a gift card and an opportunity to meet a local published author.
Foster is the author of the popular children's travel adventure books, Amanda in Arabia - The Perfume Flask and Amanda in Spain - The Girl in the Painting.
She will be available to read from her books and answer questions.
Drop in to Black Bond Books to pick up the colouring contest sheets prior to Dec. 3.
