On the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 7:15 p.m., CFUW South Delta will host artist and author Michael Kluckner.
Realizing that this speaker may be of interest to many residents in our local area, CFUW-South Delta welcomes their virtual attendance via Zoom and participation at no charge. Kluckner is an artist and author who has written and illustrated a long series of books on the history and heritage buildings of Canadian cities, British Columbia, and Canada itself. He is probably best-known for the book Vanishing Vancouver.
His recent books include graphic novels that explore the possibility of making history more accessible to new young audiences. These include Toshiko, a story of the Japanese-Canadian internment during the Second World War, and Julia, the story of the journalist, novelist and explorer Julia Henshaw, whose accomplishments include winning the Croix de Guerre for ambulance driving during the First World War, and writing the first botanical guide to the Rocky Mountains.
CFUW-South Delta is a member of the Canadian Federation of University Women. They have been an active social group in South Delta for more than 50 years, effectively advocating on issues affecting women and children, as well as providing multiple bursaries annually to deserving local women. Membership in CFUW is open to all women (a university degree is not a pre-requisite).
