Canoe the Slough: Fraser River Stories Sunday, July 17, 6 - 9 p.m. Deas Island Regional Park. Hear stories of the Fraser River's past as you tour the serene, sheltered waters of Deas Slough. Explore local features as you paddle by farmland, fishing boats and rich estuary wetlands. View eagle nests, herons and bog orchids. Basic canoeing instruction and equipment will be provided. Storytime and Babytime have returned to your local Delta library. Babies, newborn to 23 months are welcomed with their parent/caregiver to a unique 30 minute drop-in Babytime program full of children's literature, song, rhyme and rhythm. If your child is 2 - 5 years old, come participate with them at Storytime or Pajama Storytime, half-hour programs of books, songs, felt stories and puppets. Check your local library for times.

Does your son or daughter have a favourite stuffed animal? Have your child bring "Teddy" or "Fuzzy" to your local Delta library to register between now and July 31st for the Stuffed Animal Pet Parade in August. Don't delay, as space is limited! BC Guide Dog Services is looking for volunteer boarding homes in Ladner for our dogs in training. Dog Lovers needed to board our guide dogs training for approximately six months while they undergo advanced instruction. The dogs are training with our instructors Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are picked up and dropped off daily. The Canadian Cancer Society Volunteer Driver program in Ladner/Tsawwassen is in need of more volunteer drivers to take patients to and from their treatment. Training and dispatch are provided. Time commitments are flexible. Come to the Burns Bog Conservation Society's Jog for the Bog 5km or 10km trail walk/run through Burns Bog and International Bog Day on July 24. The chip timed Jog for the Bog race will happen from 9 - 10 a.m. (registration begins at 8 a.m.). The International Bog Day celebrations will follow, running from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. with free entertainment, eco-exhibitors, children's activities, and bog tours.
