?BC Guide Dog Services needs volunteers in Ladner to provide boarding homes for future guide dogs. The dog (already house-trained) will live with you for five to six months, and will generally be out training with a professional 8: 30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Staff will pick up and drop off the dog. Dog food and vet expenses are covered. The dog must be accompanied by an adult on non-training days. ?Swing into Spring with Special Olympics BC Delta! Spring programs begin in April and include softball, soccer, track & field and golf. ?What services do Delta seniors need to remain at home and be as independent as possible? United Way's "Better at Home" program provides provide non-medical home support services. We need your help in bringing this program to your community. If you or someone you know needs this kind of support, we invite your input at a public forum in Tsawwassen on April 10, 1 - 2: 30 p.m. at the KinVillage Community Centre, 5430-10th Ave. For more information contact Deirdre Goudriaan at [email protected] or 778-891-8948.

?The South Delta Therapeutic Touch Network meets in Tsawwassen at the Natural Comfort Wellness Centre every second Wednesday of the month. The next meeting is on April 10. For more information and to register call Frances 604-948-1652 or Selena 604-952-4175.

?On April 10, 7 to 8: 30 p.m., at Tsawwassen Library, Go Green Delta Book and Film club, will discuss Urban Food Revolution, Changing the Way we Feed Cities, by Peter Ladner. Limited copies of the book are available at library. We are pleased to have as guest facilitator, Patricia Fleming from Earthwise Farm and Garden. This event is to honour April's Earth Month. All are welcome (don't have to read the book and no fee or membership required.)

?A free Teen's Art Journal Jam takes place Friday, April 12, 3 to 5 p.m. at the Portal 4755-51st St. Drop in with your favourite art journal, some pens, and have fun creating together. With artist Violette Clark. For more info contact [email protected].

?The next regular meeting of the South Delta Low Vision Support Group will be held Monday, April 15 at 1: 30 p.m. at the Ladner Pioneer Library. Guest speaker will be travel consultant Anneliese Giesbrecht.

?A Parkinson's support group meeting takes place Monday, April 15 from 11 a.m. - 12: 30 p.m. at KinVillage. We are a group who either have Parkinson's Disease, or live/help someone who does have PD. We meet the third Monday of each month to talk, learn from each other, encourage each other, or just sit back and listen to those around us. For more information call Eileen or Peter at 604943-8350.

?The Boundary Bay Quilters Guild invites you to attend our meeting on Tuesday, April 16. Fiber artist and "colourful" teacher Ionne McCauley is our guest this month. ?Delta Seniors Planning Team speaker for the April 16 meeting is Linda McGowan, Consumer Advocate manager of HandyDART. She will provide updates on the HandyDART bus service. The meeting starts at 10 a.m. at Deltassist Family and Community Services 9097-120th St., Delta. ?OWL's annual open house is set for Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14 at 3800-72nd St. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tour the bird care centre, view environmental displays and more. A rehabilitated raptor will be released each day at 1 p.m.

Arts

?The ArtStretch Program celebrates 'Exploration & Inspiration' with a gallery exhibit of students' works to be displayed at the Delta School Board Office located at 4585 Harvest Dr. in Ladner. The exhibit begins on Tuesday, April 16 (4 - 6 p.m.) and continues on weekdays (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.) until Friday, April 26.

?Opening Night by Norm Foster opens at The Tsawwassen Arts Centre, on April 11 and runs to April 27 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings only) at 8 p.m. This is bistro seating (dinner theatre without dinner) and refreshments are available for purchase to enjoy during the show. Adults are $18 and seniors (60+) and students (12-18) are $15. Reservations can be made by calling 604288-2415.
