A local couple known for its charity work in Africa is heading back to tackle a new project and is looking for some donations.

Steve and Linda Kovacs are heading to Uganda next month. The couple, which will be travelling with a small group of South Deltans, is returning to the African country to install a clean drinking water system for an orphanage near Lake Victoria.

The group is looking for donations of school supplies.

While the water system is being installed, Linda Kovacs and another volunteer will be working with kindergarten students at the village's school.

Kovacs said the area is still being re-established and the school is often short on supplies.

They're looking for a number of items, including pencils, paper, early reader books, puzzles, songbooks, Lego and any craft supplies.

The group is leaving South Delta on Jan. 15.

Any donations can be dropped off at Waterscene/ Swim Blue in Ladner or at South Delta Baptist Church in Tsawwassen.
