The northwest chapter of the Crown Victoria Association is in town this weekend for the group's 15th annual convention.

The CVA association comprises owners of 1954 to 1956 Ford Fairlanes and Canadian Meteor cars, including Crown Victoria hard-tops, glass-tops and convertibles.

According to co-organizer Tom Siddon, these brightly coloured and chrome-decorated automobiles are signature cars of the glitzy and highly competitive auto era of the 1950s. "Last year I proposed that we bring our unique collection of Crown Victoria's to Ladner as a fitting lead-up to the great Ladner Quilt Walk and Car Show being held on Sunday, Aug. 18," says Siddon, who was the Member of Parliament for Richmond-South Delta from 1978 to 1993.

These beautifully designed cars can be seen at a Cruise-In in front of the NAPA Auto Parts tonight (Friday, Aug. 16) and again in Ladner's Memorial Park tomorrow (Saturday, Aug. 17) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., explains Siddon.

"We will have about 50 cars present, including our tropical rose and white Crown Vic which my wife Pat and I will bring from Penticton for this event," says Siddon.

The Ladner Village Quilt Walk and Classic Car Show, now into its 10th year, takes place Sunday in Ladner Village from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event, hosted by the Ladner Business Association and The Quilted Bear, features hundreds of classic cars and quilts.
