The volunteer crew works to provide a professional search and rescue service to people on the water in the area. The crew, under the direction of training officer Paul Rasmussen, trains in the classroom every Tuesday and on the group's lifeboat every Sunday.

The unit has recently added a small, fast rubber boat for patrolling the river and being able to get into shallow and tight places.

The pub night will feature burgers, beer/wine, door prizes, a silent auction and a toonie toss.

Tickets are available at Ladner Cruise & Travel Centre, from a crewman or at the door.

The fundraiser is set for 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, at Sundance Pub, 6574 Ladner Trunk Rd. Tickets cost $15.

The Delta Marine Unit, which has been providing marine search and rescue since 1999, is supported by the Roberts Bank Lifeboat Station - Delta Society. It costs $5 to become a member of the society.
