More of the pieces are falling into place for the sixth Delta Pride Picnic that happens this Sunday at Memorial Park in Ladner.
“We are excited to welcome (Rolled West Coast) and (Peace Sweetz) (cool treats) to the Delta Pride Picnic on Sunday, Aug. 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Memorial Park, in Ladner. We are so excited for them to join us,” said the Delta Pride Society on Facebook.
Two other recent confirmations for caterers include Pork Mafia barbecue, along with Mister Mom’s World Catering and Events.
“All are welcome to celebrate in the beautiful diversity of this community,” the society says online.
Music, live performances, food trucks, community partners, resource booths, vendors, activities and crafts and games will be part of the picnic in central Ladner. Another recent confirmation is the Waackingdom Dancers who are making a return visit to the picnic.
But don’t forget to bring sunscreen, a picnic basket, blanket, chairs, your best pride attire — and some cash to tip the performers at the picnic, says the Delta Pride Society.
Last year, the event drew more than 500 people but this year should see more than that, said Christa Horita Kadach, with the Delta Pride Society previously.
Horita Kadach said the picnic is different from other pride celebrations.
“This really started as a picnic because the people who started it had young children and it’s continued to be geared for all ages, including families with young ones.”
