The third edition of the local Walk With Your Doc is set for next Saturday.

It's billed as a short, fun, community walk around Boundary Bay Regional Park.

Even though last year's walk had rainy and windy conditions, the event was still a lot of fun, said Dr. Martin Ray, who will be taking part in the upcoming walk as well.

"Whatever the weather, we're ready to go," he said.

Ray said about 60 people took part last year and he hopes that number will double this time around.

"Each year, during the week of May 10, the World Health Organization's international Move for Health Day, doctors across B.C. host walking events for their patients and often for their community too," the Walk With Your Doc website notes.

The local walk is sponsored by the Delta Division of Family Practice, Ray noted.

The group has an initiative, GP for Me, with the goal of providing high quality primary care for Delta residents, he said.

Walk With Your Doc takes place Saturday, May 9 with check-in scheduled for 10:45 a.m. at the Centennial Beach Café. The event is pet-friendly.
