Earthwise program offers 10-mile diet

The Earthwise Society is offering South Delta residents a unique opportunity to enjoy a "10-mile diet" through its organic Community Supported Agriculture program.

The Earthwise Society is offering South Delta residents a unique opportunity to enjoy a "10-mile diet" through its organic Community Supported Agriculture program.

Community supported agriculture strengthens local food security through the sale of shares in the harvest of small-scale farms. This support from the local community helps farmers plan crops and helps consumers access freshly harvested local produce throughout the summer and fall.

Shares in the Earthwise program cost $500 for 20 weeks of fresh, seasonal produce.

The not-for-profit Earthwise Society operates the Earthwise Farm in Boundary Bay as a learning centre for organic agriculture, involving students of all ages in food production from field to table.

The farm is a model for small-scale, sustainable farming close to urban centres and re-establishes personal connections to our food.

Earthwise's Community Supported Agriculture program also provides free harvest boxes to families in need through the Delta Food Coalition.

Community members are invited to sponsor families through a donation of $25 per week.
