Earthwise Society invites educators to discover a transformative learning experience for their students through its EcoTour field trips at the picturesque Earthwise Garden in Boundary Bay.
Continuing until Nov. 15, these curriculum-linked programs provide a hands-on approach to environmental education, nurturing a deeper connection between children and nature.
The EcoTour program is designed to ignite curiosity and foster critical thinking among young learners.
Students explore the garden’s diverse ecosystems, engaging in questions that spark their imagination: What do worms need to thrive? How do plants grow? What roles do insects play in a garden habitat? These inquiries not only enhance understanding, but also promote a sense of stewardship for the environment.
Research shows that outdoor learning enhances independence, confidence, and empathy, essential skills for lifelong learning.
By engaging in hands-on activities such as planting seeds, observing insects, and discovering the intricate relationships within garden habitats, children develop a profound appreciation for nature.
The Earthwise Garden provides a vibrant backdrop for exploration, making it an ideal setting for educational adventures.
Each EcoTour includes a guided garden tour, and an interactive workshop tailored to complement classroom learning, delivered by the Earthwise experts. The program is tailored for students from kindergarten to Grade 5, and Earthwise is happy to customize tours for older groups, all the way up to high school age.
Teachers interested in scheduling an EcoTour can select either morning or afternoon sessions.
