Every day we hear about vanishing farmlands, increasing difficulties for young farmers to get started, and new worries about the food we eat. What is a consumer to do? Earthwise Society's Food for Thought uses a lively and engaging format to introduce you to the some of the issues impacting sustainable agriculture. This program combines readings and group discussion followed by hands on learning at the Earthwise Farm. Food for Thought has grown out of a sustainable resources course offered by Earthwise Society in partnership with Delta School District. Food for Thought begins Wednesday, April 10 from 3: 30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is by donation.

Increasingly, people are taking the issue of growing food into their own hands - and gardens. To help you get started, Earthwise is bringing back the Vegetable Gardening Month by Month series. Offered on the second Saturday of every month, our farm staff will share their expertise to take you step by step to a successful and abundant harvest. The program starts April 13 at 11 a.m. and costs $10.

If you are contemplating a food related career, consider becoming an Earthwise Farm Apprentice. This volunteer program takes a customized approach to hands on learning and is designed to help people explore an interest in farming while gaining experience under the direction of the Earthwise Farm staff.
