A free family scavenger hunt is taking place in Delta over the next month.

The scavenger hunt includes 20 fun activities to do in and around Delta. Booklets can be picked up any time after Jan. 27 from a Delta Library (Tsawwassen, Ladner or North Delta).  The activities are designed to be done as a family and all families are welcome to join in the fun.

Families should bring their completed booklet back to any of the three Delta library locations by Feb. 20. The first 400 children to do so will receive a brand-new book, appropriate for their age. Each family will also be given a bag filled with information about programs and services for children and families in Delta – as well as some surprise goodies.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has been hard on families and we at Delta Kids wanted to bring some joy during these challenging times,” said Delta Kids coordinator Andrea Lemire. “Normally we hold an in-person event on Valentine’s Day, but this year we had to get creative. This scavenger hunt is meant to give families some fun activities to do together, a way to celebrate Family Literacy Day (Jan. 27), Valentine’s Day, and Family Day.”

Delta Kids is a subcommittee of the Delta Child and Youth Committee (CYC), a committee of non-profit, government and community agencies and organizations that work to improve the lives of children, youth and families in Delta.

The Delta Child and Youth committee would like to acknowledge and thank the Delta Foundation for the funding they provided to purchase the books.
