Gogos' book sale benefits two causes

Spring in Ladner means garage sales, fundraisers, church bazaars, plant sales and, of course, the annual book sale hosted by the South Fraser Gogos.

Spring in Ladner means garage sales, fundraisers, church bazaars, plant sales and, of course, the annual book sale hosted by the South Fraser Gogos.

All proceeds from the sale of slightly used books go to the African grandmothers who are raising their grandchildren. At their annual book sale, not only do the African grandmothers benefit but so does the congregation of the Ladner United Church.

In this partnership with the Gogos, the Martha Group from the church bakes delicious desserts and prepares sandwiches for a reasonable price for the participants of the book sale.

All proceeds from their hard work go towards the church's building fund.

During the book sale the hall is buzzing with lots of social interaction when old friends meet over lunch.

Everyone enjoys themselves while buying great books for reasonable prices. Everyone is welcome.

This year's book sale is being held on Saturday, May 12 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ladner United Church, 4960-48th Ave.

Call Avril at 6049468402 for more information on the book sale.
