The South Delta Artists Guild has been busy preparing for a party this Friday night.

In collaboration with the Delta Arts Council and United Entertainers, the guild is hosting a small show at the Tsawwassen Longhouse Gallery to help promote arts in the community.

Art is vital to a wellrounded community, so the guild has decided to join forces with two other arts organizations for an evening of art, musical entertainment, community spirit and dessert.

The free event, set to run from 6: 30 to 9 p.m., hopes to spark some community spirit, and hopefully draw in members of the community to a place where they can meet, visit and be entertained, right in their own backyard.

The event also provides an opportunity to view the guild's latest show, All that Jazz, paintings and artwork influenced by the Tsawwassen Jazz Festival.

All that Jazz runs until July 22.

The South Delta Artists Guild has been located at the Tsawwassen Longhouse, beside South Delta Recreation Centre, for over 10 years. It presents shows every month based on original paintings, sculptures, pottery and other two-and three-dimensional art forms.

The non-profit organization has over 150 members, all local artists, and is always open to new members and visitors.

The Delta Arts Council has offices in all three communities in Delta, providing and facilitating art events.

With music, song, dance and a little comic relief, the United Entertainers have been entertaining Deltans since 1999.
