Historic Ladner Village becomes pretty as a picture when it’s all lit up for the Christmas season.

The yuletide season formally begins on Thursday, Nov. 23 when the Ladner Business Association (LBA) holds its 2023 Christmas Tree Festival.

Located at the corner of 48th Avenue and Delta Street, the occasion marks the start of the festive season in the village that itself resembles a Christmas card.

Start time is 6 p.m., with the event running until 7:30, however, Santa lights the big tree in Westham Square at exactly 7 p.m., so make sure you’re watching when all the lights come on.

The evening features a colouring contest with prizes, a drop off for letters to Santa, a photo booth and other activities. There’s also free hot chocolate, Christmas crafts and cookie decorating.

“It should be really good,” LBA president Richard Wischnewski, adding that a team of volunteers has been working hard to ensure it’s a great experience again this year.

This year marks the 11th year for the Christmas Tree Festival. The night will feature live entertainment provided by Tony Barton and the Delta Youth Theatre.

There are not many Christmas events in Delta so this is a big event, and a chance for everyone to kick off the Christmas season.

It’s a fun evening and it’s a chance for village businesses to give back to the community, he added.
