With the traditional season of giving coming to an end and the new year upon us, Cedar Park Church is able to look back and reflect upon how the generosity of the community in 2012 brought great success in fundraising for a charitable partner, the Delta Hospice Society.

Thankful for the help of so many people, including community attendees, musicians and an extraordinary number of volunteers, Music and Dessert Evening last month raised $5,200.

Proceeds came from the evening's ticket sales and the sale of a CD full of Christmas music by many talented local musicians.

"We are overjoyed at being able to present Delta Hospice with these funds," said event volunteer Catharine Gilmour. "We believe in embracing our community partners and the good work of the Delta Hospice Society through the Harold & Veronica Savage Centre for Supportive Care and the Irene Thomas Hospice. Quality end of life care is experienced each day by people in our community and we are very fortunate to be able to support these services."

Delta Hospice executive director Nancy Macey said Cedar Park has been supportive from the beginning, when the organization was struggling to raise funds to build the support centre and hospice.

"We are very thankful for this deep commitment and belief in supporting those in our community at the most vulnerable time," said Macey. "We are proud to say that 100 per cent of these funds go to providing the services and care we offer to the community.

"We raise 90 per cent of our funds to support our community program so that the counselling and supportive care services can be received at no charge through the support centre and at home."

Delta Hospice Society operates the Irene Thomas Hospice and the Harold & Veronica Savage Centre for Supportive Care.
