The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the health and well-being of many individuals, with no group more affected than older adults. Social isolation and loneliness, factors linked to poor physical and mental well-being, were already challenges for many seniors, and have been amplified by the pandemic.

What can be done to break this pandemic-caused isolation? One way is to re-engage slowly and carefully in activities that were enjoyed pre-pandemic, or try your hand at new ones. The KinVillage Community Centre offers a variety of activities in a safe and welcoming environment. Proof of vaccination, ID, and wearing a mask are required on site to ensure everyone is safe and at ease.

There is something for everyone to get you moving, interacting with others, and having fun. If you’d like to increase your fitness level, there is a class for you.

Need to shake the lethargy from your brain, try the monthly brain teaser event.

If you’re tired of your own cooking, enjoy a meal at the café. If you want to relax, listen to live music or attend a free movie. From bridge, bingo, painting and carpet bowling, to snooker, dancing, ukulele jams and tai chi, you’re sure to find something that piques your interest.

If you spent down time during the pandemic clearing out your closets, KinVillage will happily accept your gently used women’s clothing for the Unique Boutique, where you can find quality clothes to update your wardrobe. This boutique is one of Tsawwassen’s best kept secrets with great finds at unbelievable prices.

If you are looking for a home for the books you are ready to pass on, KinVillage is now accepting book donations as well. The much anticipated 2022 Book Sale will be held in late March, and will be worth the wait.
