National Hope Talks is holding their annual Let’s Talk Hope conference on Thursday, Jan. 28 to bring awareness to mental health and spark conversation through storytelling and vulnerability.

The conference will be held over Facebook live stream and Zoom starting at 8:30 a.m. in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I started this organization because in my 20 years of resilience work I realized that all the times I saw the best mental health outcomes is when people felt like they belonged,” said Connie Jakab, director of National Hope Talks. “When they felt seen, heard, and understood. I wondered to myself what it would look like to create an entire movement where everyone could feel that way.”

Guests will meet virtually and many guest speakers are featured in the event including: Connie Jakab, director of National Hope Talks, Akeem Haynes, a Canadian Olympian, Alex Brown, a rapper and performer, Sheldon Penner, a disability advocate, and many other speakers.

“I have never seen a demand for mental health support like I am seeing right now,” says Andrew Neufeld, director of Ladner-based Alongside You and speaker for Let’s Talk Hope 2021. “We have partnered with National Hope Talks and 140 Sports to bring this conference online during the pandemic to reach those that need to hear about hope in the midst of this turmoil.”

The conference will start with a Facebook live stream across Canada and then later break into Zoom for registrants only.

The conference will commence at 8:30 a.m. PST. Tickets can be purchased at the following link: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/lets-talk-hope-canada-tickets-129606874651.
