Lots of cool fun in store at your local library

Bring your imagination to programs offered in Ladner, Tsawwassen and North Delta

There are lots of cool programs for everyone to enjoy at the Ladner Pioneer Library in June.

Everyone is invited to join us for Word Nerds, a fun online game of word scrambles on Monday, June 5 from 3 to 4 p.m.

Players will be given a series of scrambled letters to make as many words as possible in a set amount of time. Challenge your mind, memory and vocabulary. Compete as a team or as an individual for some wholesome fun. All ages welcome. Registration required. Future dates for Word Nerds are July 10 and Aug. 14.

Do you have kids who are interested in STEAM activities?

Children, ages six to nine can be registered for STEAM Starters at the Ladner Pioneer Library on Thursday, June 8, from 3:15 to 4 p.m.

Kids will be participating in a Tower Challenge and discovering Sphero Bolt Coding.

Older kids, ages 10 to 13, can participate in STEAM Activities at the Ladner Pioneer Library on Thursday, June 15, from 3:15 to 4 p.m. June’s activity is Paper Strength Challenges. Space is limited and registration is required.

Are you new to computers or need to update your skills? Join us for Computer Basics to learn the basics of computer hardware and software. Explore internet searching, email set up and navigation, document creation and processing and FVRL digital content. Register for an hour session on Sundays from 10 to 11 a.m. or one of two 30-minute sessions on Thursdays between 1 and 2 p.m. at Ladner Pioneer Library. No computer is necessary, public computers will be utilized or bring in your own device. Seniors and newcomers welcome. Registration required. Call the library at 604-946-6215 or ask library staff to book your appointment.

Try your hand at Origami Craft at the George Mackie Library in North Delta.

On Saturday, June 24, from 2 to 3 p.m., discover crafts you can make with origami paper.

At each session there will be printed instructions and origami papers available. All skill levels are welcome as patterns range from easy, medium or hard. Staff will assist if there are questions about the instructions. Samples of the finished product will also be set out so people can see what they’re working on. This program is for participants ages 10 and up. Origami Craft is offered on the last Saturday of the month – July 29 and Aug. 26.

Drop by the Tsawwassen Library on Monday and Friday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for Get Crafty! This family fun arts and crafts program is based on S.T.E.A.M. concepts and offers a different craft each week that you’ll be able to take home with you. For ages five and up.

Or bring your imagination to Imagination Station on Sundays from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Tsawwassen Library with LEGO, KEVA planks and Magformers. Test your engineering skills while you build amazing structures. Fun for all ages!
