The month of May is jam packed with programs for teens and families at the Fraser Valley Regional Library.

Calling all teens! Paper, puzzles and poetry – check out these May programs for teens. Register for the Fraser Valley Regional Library monthly online Teen Paper Crafts on Thursday, May 5, from 4 to 5 p.m. to learn and share techniques about paper artistry.

There is a different paper craft-themed idea every month, where library staff will talk about materials, methods, resources, art makers, and then share the results. This month, the discussion will be about paper blooms and paper creatures making ideas. Join the library staff on zoom for mindful and positive making ideas.

Do you prefer word crafting instead?

Calling all families! Word Nerds will have you playing a fun game of word scrambles on Monday, May 16, from 3:30 to 4 p.m. Players receive a series of scrambled letters to make as many words as possible in a set amount of time. Challenge your mind, memory and vocabulary. Compete as a team or as an individual for some wholesome, family-friendly fun.

Join library staff for Young Writers on Wednesday, May 18, from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m.

Explore your imagination and develop your creative writing skills. Enjoy creative writing activities, story games, and writing challenges. A program for children ages 9 to 12.

Also try the virtual Teen Poetry Café on Monday, May 30, from 3:15 to 4 p.m. Come prepared to recite an original poem you have crafted, share a poem from a favourite poet, learn about different poetry styles, and even try your hand at a poem of your own.
