It's a Wonderful Life! Do you make this movie classic part of your seasonal tradition? The movie is based on the short story, The Greatest Gift, written by Philip Stern, while the film stars Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey.

In the movie, George is a man who is full of despair on Christmas Eve. On a snowy road he meets his guardian angel, Clarence, who shows George all the lives he has touched and the contributions he has made to his community.

There are, of course, lots of traditions we celebrate every year. Carols singing out in the night and presents neatly tucked under a tree in the excitement of joy and a feeling of peace. At least this is the romantic image we all wish for every year, but unfortunately not everyone experiences it.

So perhaps it's time to take a page from Stewart's script and realize that all of us can impact the world around us. We may think of ourselves as unimportant or ineffective in daily tasks, but to do so is to call forth the angel named Clarence to remind us we do make a difference in God's world for we have been blessed with God's gift.

The gift is to continue a long tradition of faithful people saying as the angels said: "Do not be afraid; for see - I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord."
