LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF

There are two new annoying comercials on television.

One involves a woman and a man screaming at each other in a parking lot until the woman comes to understand that the man is offering her the empty parking spot they both seem to want.

The second involves a very pregnant woman on a bus and a man sitting in a seat yelling at one another until, again, the woman comes to an understanding that the man is really offering her his seat. I am not sure why they yell at each other.

Perhaps we are so used to the negatives in life and have become so focused on ourselves that we need to be jarred out of our assumptions about life and how we are to act.

We seem to have become a society of entitlement, where the only person that matters is "me."

These commercials seem to have been designed to be purposely annoying to get our attention.

If this is the case, we have lost much.

Perhaps we need to learn instead to ignore the background noise and the yelling and screaming to listen for the still small voice of Jesus speaking to us 2,000 years ago and today, saying, "You shall love the Lord your God with all you heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength, and you shall love your neighbour as yourself."

Enough said.
