Universal coverage of prescription drugs will be the featured topic at the next meeting of the Probus Club of South Delta.

Probus Club, a non-profit, fellowship club for retired and semi-retired professional and business people, will hold this special meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15 at The Beach Grove Golf Club, (5946 12th Ave.).  All guests are free to attend and enjoy a coffee on Probus.

The meeting is open to all residents of Delta even if you are not a member of the club.

Probus has arranged to have Steve Morgan, Canada’s leading expert on universal pharmacare on hand for a presentation.

Probus believes that this is an important issue for all residents of Delta and will be a hot topic as the federal election campaign begins in earnest during the next few months.

In his presentation Morgan will describe the case for universal pharmacare, drawing on more than 20 years of experience studying pharmacare systems in Canada and comparable countries.

Morgan is a professor of health policy at the University of British Columbia and is Canada’s leading expert on universal pharmacare.

His research has sparked national debate about how pharmacare can provide universal access to appropriately prescribed, affordably priced, and equitably financed prescription drugs.

Morgan has published more than 150 peer-reviewed research papers and has provided policy advice to governments across Canada and around the world. He has won many awards for his work and was recently named the 2019 Emmet Hall Laureate — Canada’s most prestigious recognition for contributions to health care policy.
