Richport boasts rich history

Ford Lincoln dealership has been providing outstanding products and services for four decades

In 1972, Bill Hanbury opened the doors to Richport Ford Lincoln on No.3 Road. He believed in offering an outstanding product and outstanding customer experience each and every time.

His commitment continues today.

By 1985, the family-owned car dealership outgrew its facilities and moved into the Richmond Auto Mall. Over the decades, the automotive company has become the number one Lincoln retailer in the province and has won numerous accolades, including Ford Canada's Presidents Awards for excellence in customer ser-vice and sales many years running.

Today, Hanbury's grandson, Jason Munden, is

its general manager. He says attention to detail and excellence in customer service are the reasons behind the company's long-term success.

"We often hear our customers say how the atmosphere and attitudes of our staff are the reason they buy from us," says Munden. "Bernice Goldson, our fleet and lease manager, just celebrated her 35th year with us."

Munden grew up in the automotive industry. He started washing cars on the lot more than 20 years ago.

"It was a great entry point into the business because I got to see all of the new products," he says.

"I learned the process of how to properly detail a vehicle for sales delivery.

"It's one of the most important jobs as far as customer service because if you deliver a car to a customer and it's not perfect, it affects their opinion of the store."

The 2012 line up has been unveiled and Munden is especially proud to offer the 2012 Focus, which is completely new inside and out.

"The new Focus has class leading technology and safety features," he adds.

Richport also carries the all-new Explorer full size SUV, which boasts a fourcylinder Ecoboost engine for great fuel economy.

Richport Ford Lincoln is also the place to go for car repairs. Its professionally trained and highly skilled technicians can help maintain your vehicle.

Meanwhile, giving back to the community is as much a part of who Richport Ford is as its dedication to its clientele.

This year, the dealership got behind the World's Longest Hockey Game record attempt to raise much-needed funds for cystic fibrosis.

"This is a cause near and dear for our sales manager, Vallerie Skelly, who was the organizer of the event," says Munden. "We donated money, employee time and accommodations for the cause.

"The women successfully achieved the goal of playing hockey for more than 242 hours (10 days), while raising a significant amount of money for cystic fibrosis."

The team also sponsors a number of local dry grads, the Shriners and the MJT Junior Golf Tour clinics, which provide a free day of golf lessons for kids between four and 11 years of age.

"We also participate in the Richmond Auto Mall various charities, such as the Richmond Food Bank," says Munden.
