A select group from the South Delta Riders cycling club recently completed an "epic" Mount Baker bike ride. The ride started in Sumas (nine metres elevation) climbed to Artist Point (1,551 metres) and back to Sumas for a total distance of 154 kilometres. Group members were able to cycle the full distance to Artist Point, whereas the last two years, snow on the road held them at bay approximately 150 metres (vertical) from the summit. The South Delta Riders cycling club is a group of recreational and competitive riders who meet every Saturday and Thursday at 9 a.m. at the foot of Imperial Hill (52nd Street) in Tsawwassen for training rides. Riders include men and women who range in age from 17 to 75. The group can usually be found after rides resting at Petra's coffee shop in the Tsawwassen Shopping Centre. New riders are welcome. The group's website is http://southdeltariders.googlepages.com/home.
