We picked this project because we love animals. So we decided to have an old blanket drive in our cohort at school.

We got our teacher to email other teachers in the grade 6/7 cohort to tell their class about how our team was collecting blankets for the animal shelter. Then we did a presentation in each class to tell them why it’s important, when we needed the blankets to be brought in, and where they should put them. We had to stay in one corner of the room because of COVID-19. After each presentation, we put a cardboard box in each pod for classes to donate the blankets in the box. We got about 50 to 70 blankets for dogs.

We were so surprised that we were able to collect that many!

In mid-February, we went to the Delta Community Animal Shelter and handed the blankets in to the staff. We stood out front of the animal shelter and they took a photo of us to put on their Facebook page.

We felt very happy and proud after we dropped off the blankets. We imagined the dogs would be comfy and happy from our work. We think others should take action in their community because you will feel that nice feeling we felt from helping animals.
