Things have certainly changed in Tsawwassen from when this photo was taken. Delta was rapidly changing in the years following the opening of the George Massey Tunnel. Between 1969 and 1972 alone, the city's overall population jumped from 32,635 to 52,693, an increase of almost 62 per cent.

Let’s go back to 1968 and check out Tsawwassen back in the day.

The above aerial photo shows the intersection of 56th Street and 12th Avenue, looking towards English Bluff.

The view shows new Safeway grocery store to the north of 12th Avenue as well as the shopping centre to the east of 56th Street and St. David Anglican Church.

The area looks vastly different today and could be in store for even more dramatic changes once the Town Centre shopping centre is eventually redeveloped.

Century Group president Sean Hodgins unveiled a new vision for the Town Centre over a year ago but an application has yet to be submitted to the city.
