The Ladner United and Wildebeests women's soccer teams co-hosted Party for Play, a fundraiser at Sharkey's Seafood Bar and Grille in Ladner last month.

The event raised $2,523.50 for the international charity Right to Play.

Right to Play uses the power of sport to educate and empower children and youth to overcome poverty, conflict and disease in disadvantaged communities as well as promoting learning, health and relationships.

Money was raised by ticket sales and silent auction. The two teams would like to thank Sharkey's and staff, Hotwax Entertainment and DJ Larry, as well as all the local businesses and individuals that supported the event.

The teams look forward to hosting Party for Play 2 next year. Anyone still interested in donating can do so at righttoplay.com or by contacting Nick or Elsie at 604-946-8898.
