Delta Hospital and Foundation tops list with $5,000 donation

A rare viewpoint of downtown Ladner a century ago

KinVillage is very grateful to be supported by a grant from the Delta Foundation, with funds from the Government of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF).

Last week, Tsawwassen Men’s Golf Club (TMGC) club president Andrew Connaris, along with captain Vern Novack and rules chairman Tom Carr, on behalf of the members, presented a cheque for $2,000 to Sharon Davis of the South Delta Food Bank.

In a normal year TOOB would be cooking hamburgers and its signature curly fries at events like Ladner Bandfest and the Tsawwassen Sun Festival.

As part of Delta Senior Secondary’s Christmas donation campaign, students are hosting a new way to safely donate gifts to families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Let’s take a step back to 1963 and visit another Ladner businesses from yesteryear. Coming to Ladner in 1947, Ed Magee and his wife Doreen opened their first store on Elliot Street, called Ladner Auction Mart.

The Ladner Business Association is hosting an online Christmas carol competition in which businesses, families, co-workers and children can participate in. Jill McKnight, LBA president says the competition is meant to be fun, playful and exciting.

Given what COVID-19 has done to community sports, the South Delta Rams were grateful to even have a 2020 season. Now the community minor football club wants to conclude the campaign by giving back.

Let’s go back to 1968 and check out Tsawwassen back in the day. The above aerial photo shows the intersection of 56th Street and 12th Avenue, looking towards English Bluff.
