ElderCollege Delta is pleased to present a little known aspect of B.C. history

based on the investigation of presenter, Peter Johnson, resulting in his book, Voyages of Hope: The Saga of the Bride-Ships.

This fascinating and factual historical account is based on extensive research outlining the social, economic and political climate of the gold rush period, its impact on the then burgeoning colonies of Vancouver Island and British Columbia

and the contributions made by the influx of Victorian England's Bride-Ships carrying courageous and hopeful new life.

Artifacts on display will include one of the actual dresses and a few corsets, worn by an 1862 bride-ship member Louisa Townsend.

The presentation is set for Saturday, Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to noon at Cedar Park Church, 5300-44th

Ave., Ladner. To register call ElderCollege Delta at 604-943-0262 or email eldercollegedelta@kinvillage. org.

The presentation is open to all ages.
