Restorative Yoga for people living with cancer can help deepen relaxation, increase flexibility and heighten breath and body awareness. Join Delta Hospice’s yoga group where body, breath and mind come together in fully supported reclining yoga positions. Yoga experience is not necessary. The group meets at the Centre for Supportive Care, 4631 Clarence Taylor Crescent, Ladner, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on Thursdays from April 4 to May 9. Delta Community Living Society is hosting a workshop for families supporting a person with autism or a developmental disability titled What is a Representation Agreement and Why is it Important. Heart Matters: The Science of Emotion parenting course will be offered at the Reach Centre for Children in Ladner for six weeks starting Wednesday, April 10. The course offers insight into emotional health and development through Dr. Gordon Neufeld educational content. Cost is $80.

 

Are you looking for a great way to improve your child’s reading skills in a safe, fun and friendly environment? Ladner Pioneer Library’s Reading Buddies program pairs elementary children up to Grade 3 with high school volunteers for 45 minutes of reading practice each Thursday. The six-week program begins Thursday, April 11 at 3:45 p.m. and runs until Thursday, May 16. Registration is required.

 

This spring’s volunteer training program at Delta Hospice will run Thursday, April 11 through Thursday, May 30. The Life Binders Workshop offers a solution for being prepared for the logistics of dying. On Friday, April 12, join life coach and counsellor Lara McIntyre at the Ladner Pioneer Library from 10:30 a.m. to noon or at the Tsawwassen Library from 1 to 2:30 p.m. to learn how to create a place for all the important information that makes up your life so your loved ones can complete your death. Discover what you need to leave behind so they can also fulfill your wishes.

 

Ladner Lawn Bowling Club is hosting its annual open house on Sunday, April 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome to discover the game of lawn bowling and learn more about the club. The South Delta Garden Club welcomes Randal Atkinson of West Coast Gardens at its next meeting on Tuesday, April 16 at 7 p.m. at Ladner Christian Reformed Church, 4594-54A St. Atkinson will provide instruction on creating a beautiful spring container. SD Newcomers welcomes fashion historian Ivan Sayers as the guest speaker at its next meeting on Thursday, April 18 at Gallery 1710 at 7:15 p.m. From bustles to corsets to mini-skirts, Sayers will cover 100 years of fashion in the 20th century.

Delta Deas Rowing Club has published its “Learn to Row” schedule for spring and summer 2019. All programs take place at Deas Island Park. Then join a music-therapist-led adult group where you will learn a variety of self-care techniques and participate in experiential guided relaxation to help you address feelings of depression, exhaustion and anxiety as they relate to grief. Delta Hospice Society offers a Drop-In Relaxation Circle, led by a music therapist, for those living with cancer or serious illness, as well as their family members and friends, every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Centre for Supportive Care, 4631 Clarence Taylor Cres., Ladner. Program is complimentary.

McKee House Seniors Society is holding its annual general meeting at the McKee Seniors Recreation Centre in Ladner on Saturday, April 6 at 10 a.m.

 

Five ukulele lessons for Beginners Level 1 will be held at KinVillage Community Centre in Tsawwassen from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays beginning April 9. Learn how to navigate government systems, services and various supports for seniors in the community. Want to dance but don’t have a partner? Come to McKee Seniors Recreation Centre in Ladner and learn to line dance in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Spring session of Beginner Basics (registered program) starts Friday, April 5 from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. Use your mind and body while learning easy, low-impact routines to a variety of music. No experience necessary and two left feet are always welcome.

 

Line Dancing with Susana, Latin and ballroom-style classes, are offered at KinVillage Community Centre in Tsawwassen. Classes are at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, 4 p.m. on Wednesdays and 9 a.m. on Fridays for beginners. No partner required.

 

McKee Seniors Recreation Centre in Ladner is holding Sing-a-long Friday afternoons at 1 p.m. If you enjoy singing for fun, come by and join in.
