Ambassadors-Tsawwassen Mills Toastmasters will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Tsawwassen Mills Training Room (enter at Entrance 4, turn left past Old Navy, and it's between Yogibo Bean Bags & Yogen Fruz). South Delta Garden Club welcomes Elke, Pam and Wendy of Botanus, bulb suppliers extraordinaire, for a return visit. The Canadian Federation of University Women South Delta meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at Benediction Lutheran Church in Tsawwassen at 7:15 p.m. The next meeting is on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Membership is open to women to come together with other like-minded women to improve the status of women, and to promote human rights, public education, social justice and peace. Celebrate-a-Life tribute card event at Delta Hospice’s Centre for Supportive Care in Ladner is an opportunity to honour those who are important to you whether they have passed, or are in your minds and hearts during difficult times. Visit between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday to Friday, from Dec. 2 to 31.

 

Mental Health Resiliency Support Group offered by Canadian Mental Health Association welcomes anyone who lives with a mental illness/mental health problem such as anxiety or depression. The group provides a safe environment to share your struggles and triumphs. Peer facilitators lead the group, provide support and educate on topics that help members to cope and move forward in an encouraging way. Group meets twice a month on Thursdays in the Ladner office. Royal Canadian Marine Search & Rescue Station 8 Delta is looking for men and women to join the all-volunteer group dedicated to saving lives on the waters around Delta. KinVillage Travel will be going to the Sylvia Hotel overlooking English Bay for a full turkey dinner followed by a train ride through Stanley Park or Fly Over Canada at Canada Place on Tuesday, Dec. 10. Bus leaves White Spot in Tsawwassen at 3:45 p.m. and from McKee Seniors Recreation Centre in Ladner at 4 p.m., returning at approximately 10:30 p.m. Cost is $90 for members and $95 for non-members. New Year’s Eve dinner/dance tickets on sale now at KinVillage Community Centre in Tsawwassen. Enjoy chef Adrian’s spectacular dinner, then dance to Scott Robertson’s Swing Patrol on Tuesday, Dec. 31. All Saints Anglican Church’s annual Poinsettia Bazaar is on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The bazaar will feature baking, books, games, jewelry, handmade crafts, jams and preserves, fresh poinsettias plus the ever-popular silent auction and Straw Draw. Donations are welcome.

 

The KinVillage Community Centre Christmas Market is on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission by donation. Items for the food bank gratefully accepted.

 

St. David’s Anglican Church in Tsawwassen is hosting a European-style Christmas Market and Keen Footwear Sale on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Semi-annual sale of Keen footwear will again be part of Boots, Books and Baking theme at church’s Christkindlemarkt. Sankt Nikolas will mingle with fair-goers in the legendary dress of the bishop-figure saint, inviting all to visualize another time and place. Traditional German stollen available with morning coffee/tea in St. David’s café. Snacks and lunch also available.

 

Ladner United Church’s Christmas Village Bazaar is Saturday, Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be Christmas baskets, collectibles, baking, crafts and more.

The Wander Inn Café' presents A Christmas Show on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Lighthouse Church in Ladner. Local singers are Liette Desnoyers, Christine Magee and Charmaine Levans will perform traditional and seasonal songs. Entrance: $10 donation (covers beverages, goodies, entertainment and helps to support Freshwave Ministries).

 

Langley Ukulele Christmas Concert will be held at KinVillage Community Centre in Tsawwassen from 7 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23. Donations gratefully accepted.

 

Delta Choral Society presents the Delta Children’s and Chamber Choirs in concert at KinVillage Community Centre in Tsawwassen on Sunday, Dec. 1 from 2 to 3 p.m. Admission is free. Donations gratefully accepted.

 

Did you have fun playing in a band in high school? If so, dust off your instrument, contact Curt Jantzen, and then join us in Ladner Tuesday evenings.  The Delta Music Makers Concert Band is a fun group of adults who love to rehearse and play concerts in the community. Loades of Music daytime concert band has commenced a new season. Band rehearses Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m. at Saviour Lutheran Church, 4737-57th St., Ladner. Registration fee is $50 per year. This year the band would like to add players to its brass section that play either trumpet or trombone.
