The Delta Music Makers are staging a multi-media Concert of Remembrance this weekend in Tsawwassen.

The bi-annual performance is set for Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. at KinVillage Community Centre.

“This will be our eighth time, but we do it every second year,” said Music Makers conductor Curt Jantzen. “It’s quite the show performing and then we have the big screen in the background with all the images relating to Remembrance Day, which reflect the music that we play.”

Jantzen said the show will include lighthearted, nostalgic music in the first half, while the second half is more reflective, in the spirit of Remembrance Day, with a piper solo from a member of the Delta Police Pipe Band and audience singalong to old familiar songs.

He said assistant conductor Margaret Behenna will be conducting a good portion of the music, which allows Jantzen to go into the trumpet section to play beside his grandson.

The Delta Music Makers are a family affair with seven married couples, two sisters, plus Jantzen’s own wife and two grandchildren in the band.

“Our band members feel very good about doing this performance and consider it to be one of the most important things we do in the course of the year,” he said. “There will be solo features and lots of interesting music. The concert is open to the whole community. It will be a great show.”

Refreshments will be served at intermission. Admission is by donation.
