Deltassist has several new counselling groups starting next month.

Here are the details:

 

Healthy Relationship and Stress Management Group – “Avoid the Storm”

Do you want to boost your emotional health and relationships? In this 12-week group you will learn how to deal with stress, develop empathy, respond instead of react and communicate differently.

Starting Sept. 2 and going until Nov. 18

Every Wednesday or Thursday for 12 weeks from 5 to 7 p.m.

From Safety to Self-Compassion and Connection

This is a group for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This group is intended to support individuals in the first phase of healing. It will cover the topics of 1) establishing safety 2) tools for emotional regulation through self-soothing and relaxation techniques 3) building self-compassion and acceptance and 4) connecting with others.

Starting Sept. 10

Every Tuesday for 10 weeks from 5 to 7 p.m.

 

Boundaries and Assertiveness Group

Participants will have a deeper understanding for building boundaries, understanding assertiveness, and developing a healthier self-worth.

Starting Sept. 10

Every Tuesday for eight weeks from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

 

Caring Dads Group

Caring Dads is a therapeutic intervention group led by trained facilitators that helps fathers foster healthier relationships with their child(ren) and their child(ren)’s mother.

Through 12 weekly sessions, fathers will:

• learn how to rebuild relationships with their children through child-centered fathering

• gain strategies to  problem solve in difficult situations & manage frustration

• learn how to recognize controlling, abusive and neglectful behaviors

• understand the stages of child development

• gain positive communication skills

This group is for fathers residing in Delta and neighboring communities. The program is specifically for men whose relationship with their children or children’s mothers is highly conflictual or problematic in other ways. To be eligible for the program, men must have some regular supervised or unsupervised contact with at least one of their (0-16 year-old) children.

Starting Sept. 12 until Nov. 28

Every Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Empowered Women (Drop-in Group)

This weekly drop-in group series will cover eight different topics to support individuals in their relationship journey.

Every Wednesday for eight weeks from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

• Sept. 25 - (Creating Safety - Safety Planning)

• Oct. 2- (Managing Anxiety - Overcoming Depression)

• Oct. 9 - (Self-Care & Self- Esteem)

• Oct. 16 - (Healthy Boundaries & Assertive Communication)

• Oct. 23 - (Exploring Anger & How to Manage it)

• Oct. 30 - (Mindfulness & Stress management)

• Nov. 6 - (Resource/ Empowerment Fair)

Understanding Anger Group: for individuals who have experienced any form of relationship violence

Participants will learn the basics of this emotion so that they have a deeper understanding of anger. They will learn about costs and benefits of anger, how to identify anger triggers and anger management techniques.
