Deltassist held its inaugural Christmas Prelude fundraiser earlier this month in North Delta.

This family event was sold out in advance and was attended by 75 Delta residents.

Thanks to the donations of more than 40 community businesses and supporters, attendees enjoyed yummy food, made rustic Christmas signs and got a chance to win or bid on more than 100 prizes.

Kids were thrilled to visit with several princesses and a superhero thanks to drama students from Lindbjerg Academy of Performing Arts and Delview Senior Secondary.

And thanks to Delta firefighters, Santa came to visit in a ladder fire truck, much to the thrill of kids in attendance.

The event was sponsored by Delta businesses such as Thai by Thai Restaurant, Golden Samosas, Petra’s by L’Aromas, Atlantis Day Spa, Richlea Bakery, and by the larger business community such as Bell Canada, the Vancouver Whitecaps and Odlum Brown, to name a few.

The event was to provide the community with an enjoyable pre-holiday event and raise money for Deltassist’s Alternatives to Violence Program. Thanks to all the businesses who donated and to those who attended, $2,000 was raised to help fund frontline services that support safety and well-being of women affected by domestic violence and other trauma in Delta.
