The second annual Cheers for Children live music evening held Feb. 2 to benefit Reach Child and Youth Development Society raised $20,000 for children with needs.
Building on last year’s success, tickets were sold out two weeks ahead of time for the Harris Barn fundraiser presented by Four Winds Brewing Company.
Cheers for Children 2019 raised $6,000 more than the inaugural event in 2018.
“To see that beautiful barn filled with people of all ages having such a great time while supporting our children was incredibly heartwarming,” said Reach development manager Kristin Bibbs. “We cannot thank Four Winds enough for spearheading such a successful event.”
Country and rockabilly music from Marin Patenaude, The Wrangleros and Rocket Revellers packed the dance floor and Four Winds Brewing, Steel & Oak Brewing, Twin Sails Brewing, Yellow Dog Brewing, Dageraad Brewing, Greenhill Cider and Dickie’s Ginger Beer all donated beverages for the event.
Four Winds kitchen and Newman’s Fine Foods provided dinner and guests also enjoyed a multi-prize raffle including a grand prize of a two-night hotel stay with hockey tickets provided by new Tsawwassen business Inbox 15B.
Reach positive behavioural support manager Elysa Phillip spoke during the evening to provide guests with insight on how services help children with developmental delays and their families.
