A painting of roses, their lovely heads dancing in front of her trellis, is just one currently on display in TGIF III, the latest show for the South Delta Artists’ Guild.

Every Friday members of the South Delta Artists’ Guild gather to celebrate triumphs and commiserate over challenges, drawing on the experiences of talented friends in order to improve their craft.

Any member may join the group, which helps everyone become better artists as experienced artists mentor new members and critique their artist buddies.

The group is holding its third combined show, TGIF III, which will be on view at Gallery 1710 in Tsawwassen from Jan. 16 to Feb. 2.

Members of the enthusiastic group have kept their brushes wet for the past month and searched photos and called on memories of fantastic vistas, and all manner of interesting subjects have been captures in brilliant colours. The subdued colours of winter can be just as eye catching as the rich reds and yellows of spring and summer.

Twenty-one artists of all ages belong to this group with more people dropping in to the Friday sessions every week.

Artistic people often branch out to dabble in other pursuits of an artistic nature. Two showcases in the foyer will display wooden painted birds, paper weights and cards painted by members.

Bins will contain shrink wraps, or paintings with mats but no frames, and prints of artists’ favourite images.

A reception for the show will be held on Sunday, Jan. 19 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Gallery 1710 is located beside the South Delta Recreation Centre. It is open Thursday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
