A fundraiser has been launched for the father of six boys who died while competing in a Tough Mudder race in Las Vegas over the weekend.

Described as a, “son, a brother, a dad, a husband and a coach,” Randy Ellis suffered heart failure during the race and medical professionals were unable to revive him.

Ellis competed in the race on Oct. 19 with his son Conner, and his wife, Angela Ellis, came to Las Vegas with them. He’d competed many times before, and the GoFundMe states that it was, “something he absolutely loved to do.”

Ellis, who was also the president of Semiahmoo Minor Rock Lacrosse Association, is described as someone who was a beloved “mentor for many people.” Organizers add that he was someone who was always smiling, and that you could always count on him for a, “joke, a laugh and a funny story.”

The SMLA – Semiahmoo Minor Lacrosse Association Facebook page posted about Ellis’ passing, describing how, “He was walking and laughing with his son when he collapsed, and the paramedics were unable to revive him. Please take comfort in the fact that he did not suffer, and his smile and energetic spirit will be forever remembered by us all.”

The GoFundMe was launched to help with, “relieving some stress from the Ellis family after this tragedy.” So far, it was roughly 10% of the way towards its $20,000 goal.
