The Ladner Lawn Bowling Club has an upcoming open house.

The Ladner Lawn Bowling Club is inviting the public to its annual open house to get an introduction to the game and check out the club.

The open house will be held on Sunday, April 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The game of bowls is for young and old, men or women, as all are on equal terms. The Ladner Lawn Bowling Club emphasizes casual recreational play on a drop-in basis, providing an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors, meet others that enjoy being active and make new friends.

The club’s green is an artificial surface, so there’s the opportunity to bowl year-round.

Those looking for more competitive bowling, the club holds weekly aggregates, in-house tournaments as well as competitions with other clubs. There are also tournaments at other clubs in Greater Vancouver and out of town.

The clubhouse has a large meeting room, kitchen, washrooms and lockers so it’s able to play host to many club activities throughout the year. These activities include lunches and dinners during bowling events but also card nights, bridge tournaments, trivia nights and special celebrations over St Patrick’s Day, Christmas and New Year’s.

For beginners, the club has coaches that can provide lessons and will continue to work with new members so they can quickly join in the fun. The club can also supply the bowls for the first year, so all participants require are flat-soled shoes.

The club is located at 5128-47th Ave. across from the McKee Seniors Recreation Centre. The open house will run rain or shine.
