Nobody won the $55,000 Mercedes provided by presenting sponsor Dilawri Group at the second annual Hampton Cove Community Open, but it was still a great day for players, volunteers and supporters.

The August golf tournament raised well over $7,000 for Reach Child and Youth Development Society, which supports local children with special needs.

“The event is all about community participation while raising extra awareness and support for our designated beneficiary Reach,” said Michael Lepore, one of three organizing sponsors.

“The team at Reach have been wonderful to work with, supporting the event with over 20 volunteers,” added Glenn Issler, also an organizing sponsor along with host to the event, The Links at Hampton Cove.

Volunteers manned a Kidzone that featured a bouncy castle and inflatable golf course. They also registered players and ran competitions on the course.

In addition to the three nine-hole shotgun starts, the day featured raffles and prizes, live music and craft breweries Four Winds and Steamworks on site.

“The organizing sponsors have such big hearts and incredible community spirit, taking the time to develop this super engaging event,” said Reach development manager Kristin Bibbs.
