The South Delta Artists’ Guild is offering a two-day workshop in acrylic landscape painting next month with artist Monica Burrow.

The course will be held on two consecutive Saturdays – Sept. 14 and 21 – at Gallery 1710 in Tsawwassen.

Burrow is a South Delta resident with 26 years of experience in making art, most of that using acrylic. She paints subject matter from Delta, the Southern Gulf Islands, the Sea to Sky and Whistler area, and the Interior of B.C. Her acrylics are colourful but also focus on composition, shape and value. She is known for her varied and loose skies.

Burrow has exhibited locally at various venues and has won several awards for her work over the years. She is a regular participant in the guild’s Gallery 1710 and Sublime Art Materials shows, will be part of group exhibit at Harris Barn this fall and also shows her work on Galiano Island.

The upcoming workshop is suitable for anyone up to a curious intermediate painter.

Day one will focus on choosing the right photo from your own supply to work from and then composing a thumbnail plan to get started on the canvas. There will be group and individual guidance along with examples, demos of brushwork and time to work on your piece.

The second day will provide more time to work through the middle and final stages of your painting with guidance, time for questions and a short demo by the instructor, before wrapping up with a group meet up to see the results together.

Registration is limited. You do not have to be a member of the South Delta Artists’ Guild to participate. Price for the two-day workshop is $187.50 for the public and $150 for members of the guild.
