Has your family been affected by substance use disorder? Are you feeling overwhelmed, under-equipped, fearful and alone? Many families struggle with the impact of substance use disorder and feel they have nowhere to turn for support.

The Little House’s upcoming Heart of the Family program in Tsawwassen focuses on the family unit.

“Our mandate is to educate families about addiction, recovery and codependence; and to provide practical skills and tools that promote personal healing,” said director of counselling Debbi McKenzie.

Heart of the Family is made up of two parts: cored education and group support.

“The weekly ongoing support group was created due to feedback from Heart of the Family program alumni,” McKenzie said. “Heart of the Family has been offered as a one-day workshop, but the need for weekly programming, both education and support, has increased.”

Delta Foundation has provided funding for the program.

“Little House is grateful for the financial support from Delta Foundation to offer this program at no cost to participants,” said executive director Joni Wright.

Heart of The Family program core education is held the first three Tuesdays of each month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Once completed the core education, participants are welcome to join the weekly support group.
